Full Thyroid Panel
Full Thyroid Panel
The LWD Full Thyroid panel allows us to look at the thyroid and see what is going on. Every cell in the body has thyroid receptors, making the thyroid hormone crucial for optimal function of every muscle, organ, and cell in your body. When your thyroid is under functioning (as seen in hypothyroidism), your body will not function at optimal level. Thyroid dysfunctions are extremely common as women are 5 to 10 times more likely to be diagnosed with a thyroid disorder than men.
The standard way to diagnosis a thyroid disorder involves testing your thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level. Unfortunately, practitioners widely disagree on the standard range for TSH which is 0.4 - 4.5 mIU/L and believe even the upper range is too high and should be lowered to 2.5 mIU/L. This is especially important for women in the reproductive age.
This is why the LWD Full Thyroid panel is optimal as I test more than the TSH but the full panel which includes:
TSH
FT4 (free T4-thyroxine)
FT3 (free T3- thyroxine)
RT3 (reverse T3)
Anti-TPOAb (thyroid peroxidase antibodies)
Anti-TgAb (thyroglobulin antibodies)
As we know, normal isn’t optimal. Functional labs are a key in discovering the door that is locked in your health. I believe both your labs and signs and symptoms can give us the map in discovering the root cause of your hormone imbalance. Thyroid disorders are often at the root of menstrual cycle irregularities because the menstrual cycle is extremely sensitive to subtle fluctuations in the thyroid function.
As a certified women’s health coach, foods scientist, and DONA trained doula, I am excited to announce that I will now be ordering labs for my clients. I am in no way diagnosing labs, as this is done by a physician, however, I am certified to catch red flags physicians often overlook when your labs are within normal limits and give you a wellness plan to follow.
If you are experiencing cycle issues or any of the symptoms below, ordering a full thyroid panel is a great place to start.
cold hand and feet
cold intolerance
dry skin
hair loss
menstrual cycle irregularities
weight gain
poor memory
poor concentration
elevated cholesterol
swelling of the thyroid gland (goiter)
constipation
heart palpitations
Is this covered under my insurance?
Yes and no! You will pay wholesale cost for these tests, because I am ordering them for you. You then can contact your insurance company for the cost of your blood work and see if you can be reimbursed. I cannot guarantee this will work but it is worth a shot!
Am I saving money?
Yes! About 90% of the time, when I request specific labs to be ordered for my clients, the physicians tell my clients the tests are unnecessary and if they do end up ordering what I suggest, insurance covers some and then the client receives a bill from the doctors office of approximately $700 for additional tests. This ensures the tests are being ordered and you are paying wholesale cost.
What’s the cost breakdown:
Full Thyroid Panel $74
LWD PDF with customized findings, wellness recommendations, and supplement links $123
