Four Ways To Create a Mindfully Slow Saturday Morning
I can smell the coffee now…
It is Friday night. No alarm is set and not a single plan is made for my Saturday morning. This is like music to my ears and the beginning of a really great weekend!
Friends, creating daily personal time for ourselves not only makes us better humans in this world but it also improves our overall health and livelihood. In this post, I am going to share four simple ways you can make your Saturday morning feel slow and intentional before the weekend hustle and parties begin!
My first recommendation: GET GOOD REST
Friday night, I recommend not setting an alarm for Saturday morning. I know this can seem odd, but just this small step can allow you to get good physical rest that your body may desperately need. Now, this doesn’t mean sleep all afternoon… there is a difference between rest and sloth (and yes I have been a sloth many times). But, for my friends who typically wake up every day at 5:30 or 6:00 AM to get that morning workout in before work, maybe allow yourself to sleep until 8:00 or 9:00 AM to ensure you are giving your body physical rest!
My second recommendation: MOVE YOUR BODY BEFORE YOU MAKE PLANS
Before you start making plans, I want to encourage you to grab those running shoes and head outside for a relaxing 30 min jog or a walk with a friend. It is so important to move our bodies in some way every single day, and if we do not do it first thing in the AM on a Saturday, it will not get done!
My third recommendation: SELF CARE
There is nothing better than a long hot shower after a good morning run. One of my favorite Saturday rituals is to use my Beauty Counter charcoal mask after my shower. I love the way this mask exfoliates my skin and leaves me feeling fresh and glowing! So, before you start that coffee, apply the mask and give your skin some TLC!
My fourth recommendation: QUIET TIME
After getting out of the shower and practicing self care, turn on worship music (if you need a recommendation, follow me on Spotify playlist called PEACE). Flooding your home with these positive truths can transform your day. Isn’t music such a gift? Let’s grab our French Press coffee and head over to the sofa and open His word!
Getting into His word before I get into my agenda is freeing of self and allows us to be used by God in a precious life-giving way each day.
And, just like that our morning is reflective, active, and restful. Now, we are ready to throw on our favorite brunch outfit and head out into the city!
Until next time! xoxo — Liv!
